Chevy Malibu Front License Plate Removal
Well i removed my front license plate bracket since I live in florida and they are not required my law.The unfortunate part is this bracket was. Just bought my Cruze from the dealer. I begged them to not put on the front license plate bracket, but they informed me that since it is illegal to.
My Volt also came with the front bumper bracket installed. My Georgia dealer got my Volt from a California dealer, who had already installed the brackets. California requires front license plates, Georgia does not. Anyhow, I removed the bracket and installed bumper plugs. The plugs were OK.

The paint matched perfectly, but the effect reminded me of a beautiful woman with warts all over her nose. There were also other minor imperfections in the bumper.
Therefore, I reinstalled the front bracket and put in a nice custom designed plate, which I am happier with. If you still want to remove the bracket, you will have to carefully drill out each rivet. Start with about a 1/8' drill and carefully and slowly drill out the center. Go to a slightly larger drill until the rivet falls out.
The stock rivet size is 3/16' by the way. You will then have holes in your bumper. I'm waiting for the 'perfect accident' that will do cosmetic damage to the front bumper, but do nothing more, so I can replace the front bumper skin. However, I am content with the present look, and I can make seasonal changes and other statements.

Just bought my Cruze from the dealer. I begged them to not put on the front license plate bracket, but they informed me that since it is illegal to have no front license plate in CT, they are put on before they even arrive at the dealership and there was nothing they could do. I figured i would just unscrew it, paint the screws, and put em back in to avoid holes. Turns out they used plastic push-screws.
Am i going to need to remove my front bumper to get these suckers out? Has anyone had this 'problem' before? Like they said before yoy remove the plate then take a drill and drill the rivets out then go to the hardware store and pick up some automotive plugs paint them to color match the car and bada boom bada bang sexy front end. And if the cops say anything I say it feel off and I keep the bracketing in the truck. And then I get out of the car and show him or I say I bought it from the dealer like that and the dealer said to just keep it in the trunk. Soooooo if your not doing stupid stuff they will be cool.
