Blu Ray Player Multi Region Hacks
I searched myself but having no luck really. I need to know about the Blu-Ray players which can be hacked easily in order to make them Multi Region?
Thanks guys for the input. However I was looking for BD players which can be hacked by software update only as it would be cheap too. For Oppo players including 103/105 you can use (free) which will make the player region-free for DVDs, but not for Blu-ray. Against 3rd part mod kits, it was recently noticed that BDP-103EU units are now missing the connector that Bluraychip.dk kits made use of because of a re-designed board. (see lower left of image) The people who ordered a mod kit without looking inside at the board before ordering with Bluraychip.dk are stuck. If you are dealing with a kit that involves soldiering, congratulations, poof! There goes your warranty.
There are region-free kits that don't require an internal connection. See the for links. Find yourself a Seiki BD660, remote control password to change regions, converts PAL to NTSC, got mine at walmart (canada) for $50, walmart gets shipments in and they go within a day or two, but if you can find one I highly reccommend it. Most likely the Blu-ray Disc Association will force any manufactory that offers a region free or region selectable feature to disable it with a future firmware update.
This has happened before when a Blu-ray player ships region selectable or region free by the manufactory, then when the latest firmware update is needed to play the newest Blu-ray titles the hidden region menu disappears. A hardware modification for region free and region selectable is the best long term option. Multi Region Dvd Player
Hello, I'm a new member on the forum, from France, but have been a longtime user of the main site (great source of information). I think I may have found a way to hack the Panasonic BD65 Blu Ray Player to be Region Free, but I'm too much of a noob to know if its actually a hack or not. So here's what I did: I bought a Fortune Star Blu-Ray of the movie 'The Lunatics.' When I played it, it showed a red screen telling me that the BR was Region locked (A) and couldn't be played on my player (B).
I only found one easy hack technique here which didn't work (load disc, press stop, then 1 then enter or ok). So I started messing around with the remote and presed 'Function', then selected 'top menu', and lo and behold, there was the disc menu from which I could load the movie.
Since I don't own other BluRays from region A or C, I have no way to see if this works with all BR or just BR from certain distributors. Also it would be nice to know if other Pana player have the same 'feature'. Not sure what you did there but once it plays a region A disc then I am sure it will play other region A discs as well. It dosent matter from what distributor the disc is from. Well, I suppose you're right. I just figured that maybe, my disc being from HK and HK not being renowned for doing quality pressings, some distributors were pressing badly region locked BR, and mine was one of them. Anyway, if you're right and my BR player is in fact able to play any region A disc with such a simple technique (play disc, press stop when Region message appears, then 'Function', then 'top menu'), this could be a cheap alternative for people looking to get a Region free player (mine is still set to factory settings, no soft or hardware mod applied).
If people with pana player could confirm that it works with theirs too, independently of their config (A player with B disc, B player with A disc, C. Well you get the idea), then people who want region free player could safely buy panas (some models are really good and really cheap). Well, I suppose you're right. Maybe you need to open a new topic instead of replying here and write topic something like 'Panasonic BD 60 region free hack' etc! I tried takeshi's 'hack' on my BD85-not with a Blu, but with a region 2 DVD. I have loads of BritComs that were never released in the US, and I'm tired of having to use another (already hacked) DVD player to watch them. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I just wish I could use the one machine for everything. I have a Region-A Panasonic DMP-BDT110 and it can play Region-B discs by doing a few different tricks. It won't play any PAL or 1080/50i content without modified firmware however.
