I use the VOCALIST LIVE 4 with my band for Harmonies. The band is a Blues /Classic Rock Band. I used my first LIve 4 from 2009 to the end of 2010.

This is something that I saw on the Gizmodo blog, its called a Vocalizer 1000, something that takes and transcribes your voice with one of their instruments.

Nuance Vocalizer Tts

Well the problem started to occur in Mid-2010. When I used the Vocalizer it caused a crackle and static like noise to come thru the amp whenever I played lead guitar or strummed my guitar. Sometimes the Entire Sound from my guitar would actually go out for a few seconds and then come back, but mostly it was this crackling and static noise that kept happening whenever I strummed or played leads. The noise doesn't start as soon as I plug the Vocalizer in, it usually takes a couple of minutes before the crackling and static happens.

Vocalizer

I have used the guitar without the Vocalizer and the problem does not occur. It only occurrs when the Vocalist Live 4 is being used. When it started happening all the time I purchased a new Live 4 and the problem started to happen with the new unit after only a year of use. My band performs 2x a week. These units should not be having these type of issues after 12 months of normal use.

Digitech vocalizer

Since it happened to 2 units back to back I suggest that perhaps the Live 4 is defective in some way. I am very upset that I spent almost $1000.00 ON 2 LIVE 4's and they both began to have the same performance issues. I never sent in the warranty so I can't use that.

Digitech Vocalizer

What can DIGITECH do for me? I cannot recommend any of Digitech's Vocalist Live products to fellow musicians at this point. The fact that 2 Live 4's in a row began to crackle, hiss, and make a static like noise during normal use, and by normal use I mean no touring, or playing Heavy Metal, or stomping on the unit like a madman.

Harmony Vocalizers

The units were never abused. The reality is that the Live 4 has some sereious problems that occur after consistent, but unit friendly use. Does anyone know why this issue occurs? Has this type of problem hapened to anyone else? Can you refer me to a Service Person in my area (QUEENS, NEW YORK) that would be able to examine the units? I am very saddened and discouraged by the fact that I paid almost $1000 FOR 2 VOCALIST LIVE 4'S that became defective withina year of each other. This is unacceptable.

Perhaps your guitar is over driving the input since it has occurred twice with two different units. Have you tried to turn the guitar volume off and just use the pass thru?

I would try different settings until I got the hiss to dissipate. That would include different guitars and amps and also checking the EQ in case the setting was peaked. Last thought could be grounding of other equipment.

Be sure your VL4 is plugged in to its own wall socket. ChrisAlias member since: messages: 4 Subject: Re: I'M HAVING A HISS/STATIC ISSUE WITH MY LIVE 4 I've been using the VL4 for 3 yrs, not had the problem you describe, I use both electric and acoustic through it. But I split my guitar signal - running one side to my amps and the other to the VL4 with the guitar volume on the VL4 turned to zero - giving me purely vox at the VL4 outputs. Have you tried separating your vocal/guitar signal in this way? Does the problem still occur when the mic is disconnected from the VL4? Can you describe your signal path, it may shed some light? Mostly use in a professional studio: The vocals were recorded entirely with the VL4 - different settings throughout. Has been an awesome pedal that has been used almost daily without any fail.
